Toyota is in a hydrogen-fuel-cell partnership with BMW and is sticking to its plan of selling hydrogen powered vehicles to Americans by 2015. News of this plan is from Justin Ward. His job title is advanced powertrain program manager at Toyota's Technical Center in Ann Arbor.

California is where the car will likely be sold at first, since the state has committed to having 68 fueling stations by 2015. Ward points out that availability of the fuel is the toughest hurdle to overcome for this technology.Honda has been selling limited quantities of its hydrogen vehicle, The FCX Clarity, in designated parts of California since 2008. That car however is handmade and can only be bought by people who reside near filling stations.

Toyota plans to make its hydrogen vehicle available both to the public and to private corporate fleets.
