In the month of June, Toyota sold 1,657 hybrid cars in Canada. That amounts to 8.7% of their sales for the month. Toyota now sells a whole line of Prius Hybrids in Canada including a small one called the Prius C and the big one called the Prius V. Their will soon be a plug in model but as it stands Toyota sold 1,033 Prius hybrids in June.
While only 272 of those were the little Prius C, Toyota has to fight for their sales now. Honda, Nissan, Ford, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Porsche, Hyundai and Kia all sell hybrids as do many other brands. Mitsubishi, Ford, and Nissan even sell purely electric vehicles. Chevrolet has put the idea of a hybrid on it's ear by replacing the gearbox with an electric motor that can be charged by a gasoline motor that never directly drives the car.
