According to a recent survey of the 10 wealthiest Zip codes, the Toyota Prius is the most popular car in wealthy, eco-savvy areas in California.
“For affluent buyers who live in places where environmental concerns reign supreme, the Toyota Prius is the ultimate status symbol in eco-luxury,” said Kristen Andersson, an analyst at TrueCar.com.
In LA County's Century City, the average annual income is $751,000. The Prius is of course the most popular vehicle there. Century City is fifth on the list of wealthiest zips. Mercedes takes second and third places in Century City, with the E-Class and C-class sedans followed by the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and C-Class sedans. BMW's cheapest sedan, the 328i takes fourth followed by the VW Jetta, which will soon be available as a hybrid.
Just North of San Francisco is Ross, CA. The city is home to the 10th wealthiest zip code and has an average income of $497,000. Like in Century City, the first two spaces go to the Prius and E-Class, but third goes to the Mercedes GL.
Atherton is right in the Silicon Valley, and it sits fourth on the list of wealthiest zip codes. With an average income of $768,000 it should be no surprise that the Mercedes E-Class is in first there. The Prius is second of course followed by more Mercedes vehicles.
