Hi everyone,

I just took delivery today of my brand-new 2015 Prius c Four in Tangerine Splash Pearl! Her name is Vitamin C.

I wasn't planning on getting a new car for another couple of months, as I am actually in a 39-month lease on a 2012 Nissan Leaf SL that's up at the end of November. In fact, I was just killing some time yesterday between jury duty and a business meeting by perusing some new cars at the Toyota dealership (including the new Scion iM.) But, they threw me a bone by offering to pay off my last two lease payments, as well as .00022% APR on a 36-month lease and $1000 bonus cash. Leasing isn't for everyone, but I'm the perfect candidate, as I only drive about 10k per year and even when I owned cars, switched them up every few years or sooner. This is actually my third lease; my first one was on a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited that I traded up early due to constant body damage issues.

So, I actually still have my Leaf for the next couple of weeks until Toyota sends me the payoff check, as well as I get my lease inspection done. I've liked the Leaf a lot over the past 3+ years, as I can silently cruise past gas stations. It's a comfortable, zippy ride.

But, I've missed the versatility of going to see family far away, getting away to the beach, and I've disliked the lack of range (lower than advertised depending on driving conditions). Also, lots of drama with the charging stations sometimes being blocked by non-EV drivers, or broken. And some definite haters! Plus, even though I don't pay for any gas, I've paid my Blink bill every month (the company that runs the majority of the charging stations around here; most of them aren't free!) And, of course an increased power bill.

My new Prius C lacks some of the refinement and definitely the acceleration of my Leaf, but also has some pluses with a better nav system, app integration, and I honestly won't miss the near-white cloth interior of the Leaf (the only choice on a 2012.) Plus, the overall Prius C is smaller, but interior space isn't compromised too much. (The Leaf has a large battery in the back, and a deeper rear trunk space, but that's because it has no spare tire.)

I was actually all set to buy a 2015 or '16 VW Golf Sportwagen TDI, as my mother drives a '13 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. BUT, with the huge VW TDI debacle that just came about, it steered me right to the Prius.

So far, I haven't been disappointed with the MPG. The car had about 162 miles on it when I bought it (it was delivered from Puyallup, WA to Gladstone, OR due to my husband specifically wanting orange.) I put about 80 miles on it today and averaged 40-67 MPG at all times. At my next tank fill-up, I will start actually calculating the MPG and seeing what I average.

The car is louder and slower than my Leaf, but slow is not necessarily a bad thing, since I'm a lead foot and could use less motivation to speed. >:D

Pics attached of my new ride, Vitamin C, and my old ride, Elektra Pearl. (We no longer have the Xterra pictured in the background on that last pic; our other car is a 2014 Nissan Altima SL.)
