If you are not in California or one of the other states that follow their guidelines,
start calling around to muffler shops or other independent mechanics.

A little late but a word of caution. There is a heat exchanger in the exhaust on the Gen 3 that has engine coolant circulating through it. Thieves cut through the coolant hoses when they take the converter; driving/operating the vehicle with these lines cut can cause serious engine damage. That honestly sucks, from what I hear you can still drive it without the converter, but its less mpg and it sounds loud. Id say just try and find it online and pay for shipping. I think aftermarket ones are cheaper for around $500 and they dont steal them because its not OEM. You lose a bit of MPG however, which sucks. When you get a new one, make sure to weld a guard or something underneath to prevent it getting stolen in the future.
If you live in California, it can still be done legally. Look under the Information tab at the top of this page:Thieves stole my catalytic converter off my 2014 Prius while parked in a busy parking lot at noon. Dealer can't get one or ever tell me when they might get one. I may be without my car for months. Where can i try to find one?
I just dropped $400 to have Toyota install a riveted-on converter shield. Shuts down the possibility of theft. Too many people are coming back from shopping or the movie to a dead car. this should be standard on all cars with cats.Thieves stole my catalytic converter off my 2014 Prius while parked in a busy parking lot at noon.
