You’ve done your research and decided that instead of buying a brand new car, you’ll get a used Toyota car or other vehicle. It’s a smart decision for sure – you’ll save a lot of money in the short and long term – but have you considered purchasing a certified pre-owned vehicle instead? Here are five benefits to buying such a vehicle.

Extended warranty.
Of course, every certified pre-owned vehicle program is different, but many of them offer an extended comprehensive warranty. For example, used Toyota vehicles that are certified come with a 12-month/12,000-mile comprehensive warranty.

Peace of mind.
When you buy a certified pre-owned vehicle, you know you’re not buying a lemon. It’s the manufacturer’s stamp that guarantees it has repaired or refurbished the vehicle to bring it up to standards nearly akin to new cars. Do remember, though – there’s often a difference between a manufacturer’s certified program and one offered by a dealership, since many times, the manufacturer requires more rigorous testing.

Special financing terms.
Again, it depends on the dealership and manufacturer, but many that offer certified pre-owned vehicles also provide the same services and flexible financing arrangements to those buying pre-owned vehicles as those buying new.

Great value. It’s obvious that buying a used car is a better value than buying new, since you avoid the rapid depreciation a new car buyer suffers in the first two to three years after driving off the lot. However, purchasing a certified pre-owned vehicle is like getting the best of both worlds – you experience the luxury and warranty protection of a car that’s like new without the enormous price tag.

Other perks.
Depending on the certified pre-owned vehicles program, buyers are eligible for other benefits, including but not limited to 24/7 roadside assistance, a free vehicle history report, trip interruption insurance if your car breaks down while out of town, the loan of a temporary vehicle while yours is repaired, and more.
