A compisron about the 2011 volt and Prius PHV
Stand alone Video Player

We measured gasoline mpg by driving test loops with a discharged battery — pretty standard stuff. But we also measured electricity consumption by driving a known distance and then using a special meter to determine how many kilowatt-hours of juice passed through the charge cord during the subsequent battery recharge.

After crunching the data, here are the Edmunds Observed figures we came up with:

EV-mode electricity consumption (*kWh/100 miles) *unlike mpg, smaller is better:

Volt 39.0
Prius PHV 23.2

HV-mode (hybrid vehicle) gasoline fuel economy (mpg):

Volt 31.1
Prius PHV 47.2

EV-mode electric range (miles):

Volt 33.9
Prius PHV 14.6

Driven the same way, our Prius PHV used 34 percent less gasoline in gasoline-hybrid mode and 41 percent less electricity in EV mode than the Volt.

I've said it before and I will say it again, Volt is not worth it. Give GM a few years and they just might have the better EV/HV. Prius has been around for a while and is the best out! + the Prius design is much more appealing than the Volt.

Does anyone like the Volt?

I agree i posted that just for info sake, the Prius has been in the market for 10 years and have sold 1 million units in America alone not counting the other countries. I still dont trust the whole EV thing but i hear them going on about. Ev cars in the dakar rally, and the peaks pikes hill climbs. Really quick Ev's are being developed.
The volt is still i would say a real world prototype as these cars arnt exactly fully developed yet. They haven't seem to worked out all the issue sand small quirks with the cars, esp with failing batteries and battery gauges not being correct. minor things like that drive it away from it coming close in my mind, to buy it.
We've stated the idea prior to in addition to I will claim the idea yet again, Volt isn't worthwhile. Supply GM many years and so they just might develop the superior EV/HV. Prius 's been around for a while in addition to is the better out and about! + the actual Prius style is really a lot more inviting versus Volt.

Can anybody such as the Volt?:)
