Thanks! Sorry to be so late in thanking you. I had trouble signing in! My fault!NO.
There is no "start battery".
The high voltage hybrid battery actually starts the engine.
The 12 v. battery just runs lights and computers.
The 12 V. battery is only charged when the car is running (in "ready" mode).
Well it won't if the 12 V is completely DEAD.If the 12 V battery is dead, and the computer(s) or lights are not powered...how can the dash light up?
Ah yes...I've owned RV's for years! The only reason I bought the Prius was because it had an A/C and heater that you could run all night! In about one hour I can convert my Prius into a camping R/V with a stove, fridge, etc. I love it!Well it won't if the 12 V is completely DEAD.
But the dash components take a LOT less power than the computers and the dash often is the last thing to go dark.
P.S. I bet you are an RV owner.
There is no "house" battery in a hybrid.
The BIG battery is called the hybrid battery or HV battery or traction battery.
