Hi,


I have a 2013 Prius and recently my A/C acted up....First it will take a few minutes to engage, even if the engine is turned on. Second the A/C blows cold air when at stop, as soon as you move then heater kicks in even temp is set at the lowest...Wondering if anybody has the same problem...Help please......Toyota will fix it for $4K...no way.....too much money....Help please

Not nearly enough information.
Where are you located ?

For any chance of getting help on any forum like this you need to tell us:
What MODEL of Prius you have, what is the present mileage ??

The A/C is run by the HV hybrid battery.
Are you having any OTHER symptoms at all ??.....like a sudden drop in gas mileage or warning lights on or it "feels" different when driving ??

That price looks a lot like a new hybrid battery.......which should still be under warranty.

What exactly did the shop say that they would be doing for that $4K ???

I think you need a second opinion from another Toyota dealer.

EVEN if you do need a major repair to the tune of several thousand dollars, that should NOT be happening with a car that new.
An "appeal" directly to the Toyota warranty department might end up being well worth your time and effort to do that.

I am located in SF Cali. My Prius has 140k miles on it already. Actually the 4K$ is from the Toyota dealsership, they said they need to replace the whole HVAC unit. Other than that I really had no issues with my prius...Thanks

Highly suspicious.......because a lot of the major components of the system virtually NEVER go bad.

You need at least one other diagnostic opinion.
