The Mechanic wants $300 for electrical analysis. The car had the Brake light on, ABS & VSC lights on, the dash giving high pitch scream, and then the triangle of death..
Is $300 for an electrical analysis the usual price? This is Hybrid repair shop.

Sounds a bit high to me.
Have you contacted a Toyota dealer about the same "analysis" ?
At 15 years old, it might well have the HV hybrid battery failing.
Was your new 12 V fully charged when installed ?

Thanks for your response. Yes--called dealer where we get our cars serviced--this Prius is son's car. Dealer charges $170 for analysis. Our guy at dealer also thought from the symptoms above that it sounds like the Hybrid--son had one cell replaced by this shop a few years ago. The 12 v they put in is a brand new battery.

Real Toyota dealers usually won't do individual cells.......because it is like playing whack-a-mole as additional ones fail.

And I asked if the "brand new battery" was fully charged or not. Different question.

Sometimes they come only half charged or less and you can't count on the car to finish the charging.

AND......sometimes even "brand new" batteries will fail.

You may be right about the 12v I know our son is feeling this place may not be the best. He went there first when he could get the cell done. Then while at work his Catalytic Converter was stolen and this place would put in an after-market one. I will ask him to ask this place to check the charge on the 12V, in case it is that simple

Dealership did the diagnosis for free but my triangle of death what the inverter :( no warning nothing. Only 132k miles and it’s a 2012 Prius C 2. There was a warranty enhancement on many vehicles but it missed mine but I’m making a stink about it. I could have been killed since I was driving and my car just shut off and 3 cars had to avoid me. There was no warning, nothing and all
Maintenance was done religiously. Wasn’t a happy camper.
Our son took the Prius to the Dealer and it set off no codes. He drove it for two days and all the crazy lights going on in the dash happened again--he took it back and they discovered that the first mechanic at an independent Hybrid garage had not plugged in a cord to the Inverter was loose. Hope this is the fix.

Vehicles can just "shut off" while driving for all kinds of reasons.
I had a fuel pump die in one and a timing belt break in another.
Neither of them was a Toyota.
Then are things like running out of gas.........
