Default Wider Tires

Car came with 195/65/15s. Anyone try a bit wider tire? What size fits best? Not looking to try making anything it isn't out of it would just like a bit wider tread. Sorry 2011

You might get better answers IF you would tell us exactly which car you have.
In general, you can go up one size......like to 200 or 205 without much worry.

But WHY are you concerned about this ?
Traction is affected more by rubber compound and tread pattern......usually.

AND a wider tire likely will have a bit more rolling resistance too.

Did you get the car new with those size tires ?
I would think that a 65 profile tire is a bit unusual on a Prius.
Maybe they have already been "upsized".
There should be a sticker inside the drivers door with the original size and pressure shown on it.

Easy Rider,

Thanks for your reply. I've been in the auto hobby since 1971 and am familiar with, well just say, things. As well as Auto Forums, although I don't have many posts on this forum the others I belong to I have thousands and we always try to help "newbees" as well as "oldbees" out... No offense taken by your reply as I'm sure you didn't mean it to sound offensive.

The tire info I provided was straight off the door jamb factory sticker as well as matched the tires presently on the car, which my Father-in-law (Passed in 2018) had installed after the original ones needed it back in 3/2015. My wife (departed 6/21/2020) received his car as part of his estate. Now it's all mine, with a whopping 54,000 miles.

I understand rubber compounds which is one reason I'll never buy another set of Michelins, too hard dry rot before the tread is worn. Anyhow I'm going with a set of tires that I'll keep to myself to prevent further discussion on my question.

Time that God grants us is precious, priceless and too short for BS.

Thanks again,

2011 Prius 5 Door Sedan, Blizzard Pearl, Gray Gut, presently 54,358 miles.
