Default 2006 Prius with possible bad battery

I have a Prius 2006 with 240,000 miles. After driving for an hour yesterday, I loaded two 50 pound bags of salt in the trunk on the right side. When I then started the car, the red triangle and engine light went on. At home I used a device I had bought last year and learned that the Code was P0A80 which indicates a battery issue.
My question is: could this have been caused by loading the heavy bags (almost dropping them) on the trunk's right side)? I cleared the code and have driven the car about another hour with no red triangle re-appearing. Am I ok now, if the check engine light doesn't go back on? Is there a way to check to see if the battery is working as it should?

You might guess that I know practically nothing about all this. Probably just enough to get myself in trouble. Thanks for any advice.

With the age and mileage, your HV battery might be going bad.....and the bags in the trunk are probably just a coincidence.

The High Voltage battery can be dangerous to mess with if you don't know what you are doing.

I suggest that you drive it until a warning shows up again and then take it to a Toyota shop.
And it might be prudent to start thinking about what your NEXT car will be.

After a few days, the same red triangle and check engine light came back on.
It is not worth it to me to put in a new or reconditioned battery. I plan to eventually junk it.
But my question is what will eventually happen if I continue to drive it?
Will it conk out while driving on the road? Or just not start at some point? Burst into flames?

Is something like this at all predictable?
Thanks.

Without keeping rather expensive diagnostic equipment connected all the time.....no, not predictable.
Previous reports tend to indicate that it probably won't be too long......like days or weeks; probably not months.
