I cannot find a replacement starting battery for my 2016 Prius 2. The only option is buying one from Toyota for an exorbitant price. Does anybody out there know of a standard group number battery that will fit?
It is somewhat unusual to need a 12 V battery after only 2 years.
And it is not a "starting battery" in the conventional sense. It really just boots up a lot of computers and runs the accessories.
What makes you think you need a new one ??
If you got the car in late '16 or early '17, the battery might still be under warranty.
Exactly where have you checked for a replacement ?
If you haven't tried the major chain auto parts stores, please do that.
I have tried all the auto parts stores, Auto Zone, O'Reilly, Advanced, NAPA, etc. Nobody even lists a replacement battery. Starting battery for my generation 3 Prius was easy to find. Walmart even has them.
I ran into the same problem on my gen 1. I found a conversation kit on line using an Optum battery. Check online. The battery itself does not need high cranking amps as its only purpose is powering lights and electronics.
The accessory battery is expensive from Toyota. In the past, I ended up buying an Optum battery that came with an adapter kit online. It wasn't cheep but it lasted.
