Default prius needs locksmith?

I have a new prius.. It is a few weeks old only..I need to drive tomorrow and the door lock won't open. The dealership says that they might take upto three days.. should I just call a locksmith and get it over with?

If it really is brand new, raise a stink with the dealer.
3 days is ridiculous.
It might just be a dead 12 V battery.
Does that model have an emergency mechanical key ? Have you tried to use it ??

3 days?! why? If you need it immediately then call a locksmith. I'd pursue the dealer.

I hope the problem has been resolved , but when dealer ask you such things don't wait much for this. Immediately hire a Locksmith and ask to open the lock so that you will go for drive.

I agree with Lila , dealer must be recommended for such issue not the Locksmith. They have real parts and software to assemble the locks again.

I am sure you have solved your problem by now, but I just wanted to add my two cents in case anyone has a similar problem in the future.

As Lila said in her response, if you have car door lock problems and you need an immediate fix, call a locksmith if your dealership can't help.

This article helped me figure out how a car locksmith can help out in these instances: https://unitedlocksmith.net/blog/i-n...h-what-do-i-do.

So, if you are not pressed for time always try the dealership first, although it may be expensive. If you are short on time you might have to call a locksmith, just do your due diligence and make sure they don't scam you out of your money and your time. Check to make sure they are licensed to work on your car before you let them do anything.

Visit dealership instead locksmith, they will fixed the door lock problem without any cost as it was under warranty.

Welcome to the forum, John.

Since this was posted TWO YEARS AGO, I'm sure it has been resolved by now.

Alas, many people don't have the courtesy to come back and report what happened.
