Hello! I have a 2008 Prius named Bandit Queen that we love. I took her to the dealership after a mechanic told me she had an electrical problem that he couldn’t work on. The dealership found that the plug that connects the fan to cool the hybrid battery was corroded and two pins were broken off inside the plug. It turned out there was a leak in the back of the car and water was pooling in the spare tire. So the water had were corroded the plug. The dealership says that they can’t just replace the plug, but would have to replace the whole harness and the entire electrical system.
Does this sound right to you? I can’t believe it’s not possible to replace one part without replacing the whole electrical system.
I’m interested in alternatives to just scrapping the whole car.
